First the bad news, I haven't bagged that 14 miler yet. The good news is I ran 12.65 miles last night. That's 1.6 miles further than the greatest distance I've run since April (when I started running again). I'm a little achy today but, not too bad.
I changed the planned route on the fly, after I hit the road. I decided to two laps of my 10K+ route & throw on the 3 miler at the end. That would've put me over 15 miles. At the end I felt okay but, I felt if I ran the last 3 miles (some serious hills) I might really regret it the next day. I think it was the smart thing to do but, I still have mixed feelings about not doing the 14. It's kind of like posting a gain or a less than impressive loss at WI. You're still OP but, you feel you could've done better.
I will get it next time. I didn't crunch my numbers until a few minutes ago & I found a nice surprise. I ran 12.65 miles in 1 hour & 57 minutes. That's about a 9:15 pace. My fastest run on this 10K+ was just a hair over 9. Not bad. I wonder what I can do over greater distances?
I'm Pete.
