Comprehension

DW is started to show some comprehension that my running is leading up to something. I run late at night, almost always after 8 PM, usually closer to 9. DW goes to bed early a lot of nights is asleep before I'm done working out. When I talk to her about my running I think a lot of it goes in one ear & out the other. I dunno, maybe I babble. DD shows more interest, maybe in part because she stays up later than her mother & is awake when I come in from a run. She thinks I'm cool.

Yesterday during supper with DW's relatives we started talking about running. For the first time my wife showed interest & maybe a little pride (at least in front of her relatives) that I'm becoming a long distant running machine.

It's funny but, you take it for granted that everybody has your knowledge about running. I told her I want to run a marathon. She asked how long the Boston Marathon was. I told her, 26.2 miles. I said I was thinking of running the Baystate Marathon. She asked how long that race was. 26.2 miles, all marathons are 26.2 miles. I thought everybody knew that. I told her about 5k's,10k's,half-marathons, 15k's, all the myriad distances out there to run. DW was actually supportive of the idea after her initial reaction "That's too far."

That's progress. That's a nice thing. Support from the family.

I am one more long run away from entering the Baystate Marathon. To think my wife & daughter might be supportive of that idea is cool.
