Rethinking 2006

Christmas is a behind us. The holiday season is like a colonoscopy, an unavoidable pain in the ass. My store's inventory is tomorrow. Another unavoidable pain in the ass. After Thursday I'm off 'til Tuesday. Thank goodness.

2006 has been a pretty good year.

Alka & I are tighter than ever.

Priyanka thinks I'm annoying but, then again I'm her stepdad, she's 14 year old girl & that goes with the territory.

I've got a better handle on at living with two women. I'm better at knowing when to pick a fight, when to back down, or when to go hide in the basement. Although sometimes it's still fun to whack the hornet's nest with a stick & run.

I've lost weight this year, over 30 lbs in fact. I haven't made any further progress since July. That's not good. In fact I've put on weight since Thanksgiving (big fucking surprise) & now am another 30 lbs away from my goal weight.

I started running again. That's been wonderful. I've got two road races under my belt & plan on running for years to come. I don't see myself stopping this time like I did 20 years ago.

I have had one running setback however. I entered the Hyannis Marathon. I've since decided it's too soon for me. I switched to the Half Marathon being run on the same day. I'm 45 not 25. I've been missing some of my long runs. Frankly, the marathon training schedule was beginning to feel too much like work & not enough fun. I will marathon again, maybe as early as the Spring but, I'll continue to build up to it gradually. If I want to do a trail run, I can. If I want to row 12K, I can. I'm free.

For 2007 I'd like to...
Make goal=162 or possibly less
Stretch,strength train,row more
Enter more Road Races
Possibly & at the right time return to the Marathon.
I'd really like to run the Jay or at least try some sickbag trail runs.
Hike & Camp more
Do this all while trying to be a good husband,father,son,brother,boss,...

Love the name of the blog. And the entry on freezing...hmm tights. And On Dean too - it is a question, nobody knows the answer to. Why? He may not have a backyard with leaves. Or has it covered with some crap where no grass/trees grow. Or has a neighbor kid come over and earn some money.
Personally - I don't care. His life is not my life.
