I ran a little over 11 miles yesterday.
I went at a very easy pace. I didn't do Gu or anything special beforehand. One bottle of Propel & a bowl of Cheerios for breakfast & I was out the door by 9 AM. I was expecting my pace to be over 10 MPM but, when I logged my miles it was more like 9:11. Either my mileage for that route is incorrect or I'm a horrible judge of pace. Or both. WTF?
I've run twice this week & have logged over 21 miles already. Nice. I don't think I'll pass the Pace Bunny this week either. So what? I'll get him next week. I'm poised to go over 30 miles per week. My mileage for March is going to be double any other month I've run since I started up again last April.
My body is handling the increase in mileage just fine.
I really need to pick some races for this season. I'm leaning more towards half marathons or trail races. There is a race up the road to the summit of Mt. Wachusetts that sounds intriguing. I wonder how much of a ballbuster that would be? There's a 10 mile trail race through the Blue Hills reservation that sounds like it could be fun too.
I need to, in no particular order,
figure out where the family is going for vacation this summer,
keep increasing my base miles,
pick out some races,
decide what's this Summer's big home project's going to be,
& to start earning brownie points from Alka so she can give my chosen races the greenlight.
I'm Pete.
