Priyanka has been running. She's lost 13 pounds this summer.
I don't know how far she runs or how fast. She has an account with RunningAhead but, has her stuff all private.
She's has zero interest in running with me. I don't know why.
Is it a 15 year old's natural aversion to being seen in public with a parent?
It can't be she thinks I might be too fast. I don't know what distance she trains or if she runs the entire route. Could it be she's intimidated by how far I can run?
It's a delicate situation. I'm thrilled she's picking up a healthy habit that will pay dividends for the rest of her life. It'll give her confidence in her strong, healthier body. Bossting one's self esteem is fantastic at any age.
I want to run with her. I want to enjoy sharing this healthy activity with her. I'm confused & frustrated she doesn't talk about. Maybe even a little bit hurt.
Teenage girls are complicated. There are no reliable road maps.

Oh my god, there's a huge bear on the page!
As for Priyanka, it's probably just teenage embarrassment. Maybe she'll want to register for a 5K with you this fall. She can run it by herself or with you but you'll still get to see what she's up to.
I'm so proud of myself. I learn to post a picture.
As for Priyanka, she'll open up eventually. I mentioned we should upgrade her running shoes (she wears orthotics)if she's going to exercise regularly. I'll use all my Jedi mind tricks.
My guess is that she's less embarassed by running with Dad and more self-conscious/independent.
I ran with my Dad when I was in 7th and 8th grade, but stopped after that. I liked the alone time and the opportunity to do something nifty without having anyone offer suggestions or critiques.
And I dig the bear. He looks warm. My cats would hate him though. They're weird like that.
