Projection of Progression

Alright, so I haven't run more than a step or two since King Tut last Sunday. I think my knee will allow a short run tonight. I hope so, because I don't want to lose anymore aerobic base. In general injuries suck but, being on the bench has left me proccupied with thinking of running goals. Instead of that lost feeling that's like Xmas morning after the presents are all opened,I feel focused.

This blog has seen a variety of my running goals come & go. A year ago I was planning on running the Hyannis Marathon in February, it didn't happen. I flirted with the idea of running a series of mountain races by La Sportiva so I could become a "mountain goat" & gain an entry into the Mt Washington road race. Didn't happen either. Instead I got sidelined by my heel issues & it took awhile to get back up into decent running shape. King Tut was an alternative to a repeat of the Applefest Half and/or re-entry into marathoning with Baystate. I continue to cling to my marathon aspirations.

To that end, I've come up with yet another self-proclaimed race in the Buzz Aldrin 25K, a three loop race to be run around my neighborhood in late January. I'd also like to plan on running Stu's 30K, which is a race run around Wachusetts Reservoir in March. Stu's is a race that I did once back in the 80's during my first incarnation as a runner. If I can pull off both Buzz & Stu's I think I'll be in a good place to consider running a longer distance in the Spring. Course & distance yet to be determined but, I do have ideas.

Winter, be kind. Pete, be tough.

I think we've both made grand plans that we have not been able to follow through with for one reason or another. You're right - taking little steps (if you could call a 25K and 30K little) is the way to go.

Nothing wrong with aiming high. We'll see what happens once Winter settles in.
