It is done

It is done. Priyanka's Nritya Nipuna was this past Saturday night & it was by & large a huge success. She was beautiful & put on an excellent performance. We're all very proud of her. It was a night to remember, a week of much activity, & the culminaton of a very long few months.

A Nritya Nipina, mastery of dance, is a showcase performance put on a student of Indian classic & folk dance. It is the culmination of years of dance lessons & months of practice for this specific event. The Western equivalent of an NP is a combination of a bar mitzvah, a high school graduation, achieving a black belt, & becoming an Eagle scout. Not every student of Indian dance performs a Nritya Nipuna. It takes a person willing to muster the dedication & discipline necessary to do something special.

The show was held at the auditorium of Monty Tech in Fitchburg. Priyanka's show included eleven different dances, four costume changes, one intermission with refreshments, one sitdown meal at the end of the show, three separate slideshows, one speech by a family friend, introductions done by Alka, myself, & Priyanka's guru Jasmine Shah. We hired a videographer, Media Creations, to record the whole thing. Alka's friend, Winston, also took still pictures.
