Alright,so two weeks ago I was planning on waiting until I lost another 20 lbs before I started running (concerns with knees,hips,etc..) After the encouragement I got on one of the WW threads I decided to give it a go at my current weight. Well, since last Thursday I've run 3 times. I feel pretty good about it. Initially my legs were a little wobbly the day after but, the only aches I now have is a general soreness in my stomach muscles; I need to work on my core. I am a runner again.
I have started a routine where I'll run one day followed by a day on nordic trak, followed by a day of rowing. As the stamina increases I'll start to run every other day. I also realize being in my 40's I really have to cross train. Sit-ups,push-ups,free weights, stretching all have to be worked into the regimen. We'll see.
On a whim, I signed up for two upcoming road races. The first is in May,a 5 miler in neaby Devens. I'm already doing 5,maybe I can increase my pace. The second is an half marathon in September in NH. By September hopefully I will be lighter and have increased my stamina sufficiently. Both races are offering shirts; it's a guy thing but, that was a major factor in choosing those races over others. I'm pretty psyched about it.
I'm Pete.
