I've been remiss. I haven't posted in two weeks. There's really nothing earth-shattering to report.
I didn't run my road race last Sunday. I wound up working on the house. I found an infestation of carpenter ants around the entrance door to the garage. I spent the next three days digging out the affected jack post, replacing framing lumber, & residing a portion of the house. Fun. No time to race.
I wound up taking three days off from working out. That's the longest layoff in quite awhile. I felt rested & refreshed but, I could sense another day would start lessening the training effect.
I went for a run on Tuesday, my five mile route, & posted 45 m 8 seconds, virtually a 9 minute mile. That's my fastest pace since I resumed running a month ago. I could tell I was faster too. I ran last night after the rain had passed through & the heat & humidity settled in. It was foggy, hot , & sticky. I was a sweaty mess by the time I was done. I'd mapped out a 7-8+mile route but, only wound up doing 6. I really started to feel drained by the heat. I'm going to try another longer run on Sunday. I'll have to include a water stop; put a water bottle out by the curb & pick it up on one of the loops.
