8.6

Okay. Now I can come clean. Last week's WI. I put on 8.6 lbs. Fucking ouch!

I behave myself pretty good on the guys's trip. I thought I had managed a decent balance between food/beer intake & exercise. I drank a moderate amount of really good beer. I ran six miles & hiked ten. However. There was an immoderate consumption of cheese. There was a wedge of Jarlsburg, a personal favorite. There was some maple-smoked Gouda from a local farm, delicious.

My weight fluctuates daily about 5 lbs from morning 'til night. I came back from Vermont about. 2 lbs up. Okay. Not a problem. I can usually deal with that.

Last week I finished the hideous paint project. The last day of painting (Tuesday) was the 1st day of the hideous heat wave. Wednesday hit 100 degrees. I think Thursday was in the 90's as well. I drank lots & lots of water all days.

Wednesday (my usual WI day) I saw I was back up to 180 1st thing in the morning (still in my skivvies). I didn't go to WI that day because I went to visit MIL in the hospital (day of her knee surgery). I was hoping something miraculous would happen between Wed PM & Thur AM but, I was closer to 181 on Thursday morn.

WI Thursday I went to a morning WI with my receptionist. I was kind of bummed because I was pretty sure I was going to be back in my 180's. When I stepped on the scale the WI lady got a funny look on her face. She asked me "Were you expecting a gain?" Yep. "Have you been on vacation?" Yes. WTF? She lowered her voice to a whisper "You're up 8.6."

I was stunned like a baby seal. I was embarassed as all hell. I told my receptionist (we're WW buddies) but, nobody else. Not LTR. Or even DD & DW, one fortunate side effect of MIL's operation was DW's mind was preoccupied, plus she was living in Hudson for most of last week. I know, what a weasel.

The weird thing is I didn't really do anything different this week. I exercised pretty much the same. I didn't journal but, I ate pretty much the same. As I said MIL's operation & ongoing recovery has been the family's main focus. But, lo & behold I was down 6 lbs at last night's WI.

I can handle 2.6 lbs as a side effect of the guys trip. DW thinks it was the beer. I personally think it was the cheese. I thoroughly enjoyed them both. That's behind me now.

Moving forward. I'm journaling again. I want to really push the WL this week because the family vacation is coming up in two weeks. I'm going to increase the workouts a little bit. Fuck the WW genie I want to lose enough in the next two weeks so I can have a little room to backslide when I'm Acadia.

What a journey.
