Blogs,Threads,Internet

I like doing this Blog. I don't care if anybody reads it or not but, it helps me crystallize my thoughts. In order to put my thoughts down on "paper" they have to be organized first. It's a good discipline. It helps to weigh things mentally every once in awhile.

I like the LTR thread best. The people on it are a nice bunch. The topics are a nice mix of running & weight-loss info/personal updates & free range thinking. Everybody's pretty nice without being too new-age-sensitive/politically correct/granola-crunchy. Although it's funny to have a "relationship" with people I only speak to a paragraph at a time but, I do look forward to hearing from these people each day.

My dirty little secret on LTR is I'm not really a vegetarian. I'm virtually veg by virtue of the fact that the little Indian lady I married is. If she's cooking we're eating vegetarian that night. If I don't feel like making a side dish of animal product when I cook we're veg. What meat I eat (hey,I'm Dr.Seuss) is in very small proportions & I'm not unmindful of the health benefits of a low meat diet but, I like meat.

I used to post on a daily WW Daily Indian Thread too. Mostly because the woman who ran it had a lot of good food point info on Indian food.

I've lurked on some of the other VB threads but, some of them are too beautiful for me. Too many earth goddesses & moonbeam princesses make me uneasy. I'm reminded of a book by Thomas Tryon called Harvest Home. Something bad happens to men who dabble too much in "women's" business...

On the other hand I don't much care for the GOAD threads either. Too many "why aren't there more men in WW's advertising." (Who cares? WW's clients are mostly women). Too many threads seem like girly-man whining. A lot of the threads seem like those men's groups that go out into the woods, sit around campfires banging on drums, taking turns "talking." There's line between feminine & effeminate that's like the definition of porn, I can't define it but, I know it when I see it.

I like the information I find on the Cool Running thread but, I don't care for the threads. It's probably because I got pissed off at the reception I got introducing the topic of banditing the Boston Marathon. Those threads seem elitist & snooty. Maybe I'll try again some other time. Maybe not.

The whole Internet is a weird experience. I know somewhere out there there are actual people at the other end of the keyboard. Sometimes you get a clear feeling of personality resonating off the screen. Vibrant. Yet, there's a dreamlike feeling of unreality to the whole thing. We're all internally externalizing.
