In just under 10 days I'll be participating in my first road race in 23 years.
I ran ten miles Monday night. I used Gu & Propel at the beginning & midpoint. I felt my right hamstring start to get tight around 3 miles & thought "Oh no" but, I kept the pace down low & kept going. I really concentrated on keeping my stride compact & efficient. It worked. The hamstring settled down & with the refueling I actually felt better at the end of the run than in the middle. I wound up with a running time of just over 93 minutes. If I could run that pace on Septmember 30 I'd be pleased.
Tuesday I was a little stiff but,had no pain.
Wednesday I went out for 6.9 miles. Felt great.
Today I'll X-train & read up on tapering & carboloading some more. I grasp the general concepts but, not the specifics.
I've got a course description printed out of the Applefest route. I might drive up to Hollis on Tuesday to scout it out.
I'm getting a little excited.
I'm Pete.
