A Little Introspection

I'm a creature of habit & I got out of the habit of my nightly run. Rowing gives my upper body a terrific workout. It is a good supplement to running but, nothing gives me the buzz & sense of satisfaction of an after dinner run through North Leominster.

There were several contributing factors to my funk. Post holiday blues, the stress of year end inventory, laying off some of my employees, & slow winter business just left me feeling somewhat drained & unmotivated. I rowed a lot but, I have to admit I knew I was avoiding my nightly run. While the weather was still mild I was getting out for trail runs a couple of days a week but, it's not the same as my nightly run. If I don't workout at night I feel unfinished.

The more I run, the more I want to run. The less I run...you get it.

I've turned a corner. My emotional equilibrium tends to gravitate to an upbeat, positive outlook. A little occasional melancholy is par for the course.

I will continue to row but, I'm going to aim for a formula of 2 runs for every 1 row. Ideally, I'd like to start doing a short run before a rowing workout.

I'll start tonight.

"Winter, bring it on"? What was I thinking? It was zero this morning. The day's high is supposed to be around 8F. Tonight it's supposed to be 1F. Damn. I'll get 3 miles in tonight. I'd like to run 6 miles either Saturday or Sunday.
