Nice Run

I came home early from work yesterday to get in run before sundown. It was a good one.

I got home at 2, drank some Propel,& reloaded my Shuffle. I'd been running without music for a month or two because the Shuffle had been malfunctioning & I finally figured out how to fix it. I got out the door by 3:30. The temps were in the 20's,the sun was shining, & not too breezy. The route I'd planned was a 4.2 two looper. The road conditions were a typical wintry mix:packed snow, ice, slushy sand & snow porridge on the side streets & pretty clear on the main drag.

The first loop I felt okay but, starting having my doubts about doing the whole thing right off the bat. The problem with this route is I'm never more than a half mile from home & the temptation to cut it short because "it's too cold" "I don't feel great",whatever is always there. I felt pretty tired after Loop One, the hill up Linda St kind of took it out of me. I actually went into the house through the garage, went into the basement & tossed back a Gu, hemmed & hawed about going back out but, luckily I did. The Gu did the trick. I was energized immediately & did fine on Loop Two. Although when I first stepped out of the house I got blasted with wind as soon as I hit the road & my sweaty body got chilled. After a few moments of moving again my body heat went up & I felt fine. I finished the run:8.4 miles.

Longest run since December...
