I've plotted out the route of the 1st Annual King Tut Half Marathon. The route is actually about a tenth of a mile longer than a half marathon. Considering the difficulty of plotting the route back & forth between the map, hybrid, & the topographic view of Leominster State Forest I'm impressed I can get that close. Without the program set up on RunningAhead I wouldn't have been able to do it.
Unfortunately, since I wasn't able to measure it accurately the path called King Tut's Highway isn't in fact part of the King Tut half marathon. Hope he understands.
It's a challenging course. It's a looping route incorporating all the paths I regularly run in LSF plus the addition of a leg up Fenton Rd. I'll get to Fenton in the next week to check it out before race day. I'll be going up Hell's Highway twice.
I plan to run using Priyanka's Camelbak & bringing a handfull of Gu. I'm doing the run on Sunday so, I don't have to worry about hunters. I'll be going out early in the morning so, I'll have the rest of the day to rake leaves when I'm through. Did Bill Rodgers have to rake leaves after winning Boston? Not fair but, that's life.
BTW,you can view the route on RunningAhead. Someday I'll figure out how to link it to the blog but, unil then...
Should be fun. Too bad there aren't any t-shirts.
